Who We Are

Paula Magee

Owner of Young at Heart opened the doors in 2013, fulfilling a dream of offeringyoga to children and adults of all ages to promote total health and wellbeing.

Young at Heart is a place where we work all parts of the body equally with no judgments or competition. 200-hour Registered Yoga Instructor, trained through YogaFit (including specific training in YogaFit Kids and YogaFit Seniors), Group Fitness Instructor, 2001 and Personal Fitness Trainer, 2010, through AFAA with various AFAA trainings including, but not limited to Youth Fitness, Practical Yoga,Practical Pilates and Yo-Chi. Training certifications also with Color Me Yoga, SilverSneakers (including training in Muscular Strength Range of Motion, Nutrition for Older Adults, YogaStretch I, II, and III), and Body Barre certified with Balanced Body Barre. Former instructor with Les Mills and Body Training ystems including Group Step, Group Active and Group Centergy.

Yee Leng

Yee Leng is a 2-time breast cancer survivor. Her first diagnosis occurred 25 years ago at the age of 24. She underwent a mastectomy, followed by a prophylactic mastectomy a year later. Her second news of cancer came on Christmas Eve in 2015, and has recently gone through chemotherapy and radiation. In September of this year, Yee Leng felt well enough to teach yoga again and has resumed all activities prior to the second diagnosis. She credits yoga and meditation for getting her physically and mentally ready for each round of chemotherapy, and to get through the side effects with a sense of comfort and ease. She believes that everyone can come “home” to their bodies, in whatever condition; quietly listening to the wisdom within.

Yee Leng received her 200-hour yoga teacher training from Frog Pond Yoga Centre in Princeton in 2011, and has taken seminars and workshops focusing on the therapeutic practices of yoga. She has studied with Dr. Timothy McCall, founder/director of Yoga as Medicine; Matthew Sanford, founder of Mind Body Solutions; yoga therapists Brahmi (Beth Gold-Bernstein) and Lorrie Jacobsohn, Directors of TriYoga Boston. In July 2016, Yee Leng participated in bodhi and mind yoga’s cancer-informed teacher training.

Sue

Sue has been a yoga practitioner for many years and in 2010 she was called to teach. It was the integration of body, mind and spirit that lured her in after dealing with a major life transition! Sue has received her 200hr (2011) & 300hr (2015) Beginner/Intermediate Hatha certifications at “Hits the Spot Yoga”, located in Brattleboro, VT. You can count on Sue’s classes being peppered with loving kindness, acceptance, forgiveness and gratitude.

For the past several years, Sue has led and co-led yoga retreats in the C. MA and Metro-West area. She has continued her yoga trainings throughout the United States in Addiction recovery, Trauma-Sensitive yoga, Yin yoga and Integrated Reiki (Levels I& II). Sue recently participated in the 8-week Mindful Based Stress Reduction series here at Young at Heart with Diana Kamila. Sue’s dharma is to live a kindhearted lifestyle. She loves to kayak and hike with her hubby. Her new interest is to create compassionate meals.

Danielle

Nationally Certified in Massage Therapy and Body Work, Danielle studied massage in Boulder, Colorado and has been passionately working in the field for over 6 years. She is currently a member of AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) and continues to further her education with different courses such as Massage for Children (Trauma related). Danielle also has certifications in Prenatal, Postpartum, and Labor Support. She also enjoys teaching new parent’s infant massage and assisting with their new journey ahead. Danielle looks foreword to meeting you where you are with your body, mind, and spirit in order to enhance your health and wellness.

Debi

Debi is an occupational therapist who also has a hidden past of performing and singing in a variety of venues. Body Barre is the ideal combination for her as it merges her knowledge of body dynamics and her love for dance and music. After participating in Body Barre classes for the past two years, Debi completed the Balanced Body Barre Teacher Training and is excited to bring her enthusiasm to the studio floor. Deb does continue to work as an occupational therapist, having earned her degree at the University of New Hampshire, and also keeps busy with husband and three children.

Kelsey

Kelsey graduated from the Coordinated Program in Dietetics of Framingham State University in 2015 and is now a local, outpatient dietitian supporting Young At Heart’s mission. As a new Registered Dietitian, she immediately followed her passion and has spent the first few years of her career working as a dietitian supporting people in eating disorder treatment. Her personal background in community education around eating disorders was a small stepping-stone to her current dedication to being a team member to other incredible mental health professionals. She now hopes to share her advocacy for dispelling diet culture in her newly established Private Practice. Kelsey strives to guide people in understanding more about their relationships with food, simply so that they can work toward nourishing all parts of their life.

Kate

Kate Magee is a sophomore at Endicott College, but when home, loves to share her love for dance through Zumba. You'll never know this is a workout...its more like Friday night fun with dance and music! Kate is 19, certified in Zumba and studying Exercise Science while playing for the Endicott Women Soccer Team.

Timea

Timea is a full time Realtor and a long time fitness enthusiast. After taking a short recovery break due to a minor injury, she relied on yoga to get back into working out while beginning to explore other forms of fun, low impact exercises. Once discovering and falling in love with Barre, she knew it was the right avenue for her and decided to become a certified instructor in order to share her passion with others. Timea brings her energetic, fun loving spirit to every class, creating a positive environment for new practitioners and returning friends. In her spare time, Timea enjoys running, hiking, kayaking. Hope to see you in class!

Erin

Erin is a life-long yogi and graduated with her 200 hour RYT through Frog Pond Yoga. She graduated from Gordon College with a degree in Biology, and is working as a Medical Assistant with a plan to attend a Physician Assistant graduate program. As an athlete and healthcare professional, Erin has a passion for health and fitness and is an advocate for overall well-being; physically, mentally and emotionally. In her free time, Erin enjoys hiking, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and likes to make puzzles and color to unwind and relax

Marie

Marie  has a background in teaching science, nutrition, and yoga. These three paths have brought her focus to the importance of health and a sense of well being. She is a former adjunct faculty member at Mount Wachusett Community College where she taught Human Biology and Nutrition. Marie participates in a variety of physical activities and especially enjoys the outdoors when hiking, kayaking, or skiing. With a desire to use this background to help promote health and fitness, Marie completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Frog Pond Yoga Centre in Princeton, MA. and is actively teaching yoga in the Westminster community. She embraces every opportunity to offer the benefits of yoga including physical movement, mindfulness, and a peaceful inward reflection of self. Marie has 3 adult children and resides in Westminster with her family and 2 dogs, Andrew and Lilly.

Gina

Gina has always been physically active, but her intentional pursuit of health and wellness truly started for her after the loss of a close friend. An overwhelming and consuming depression followed this loss for a period of several months until a friend reached out with an invitation to join a group fitness program. The community, encouragement of the other women in the program made it possible for Gina to stay engaged with a program of physical fitness and healthy eating choices. Ultimately the depression broke. She stayed engaged in exercise and healthy eating, and continues to reap the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits today. Gina is driven to share her story with others and offer them the same avenue of relief, joy, peace and health that she found through exercise, healthy eating and a like-minded community. In 2015 Gina became certified with Beachbody and obtained her PiYo Instructor certificate in January of 2018. She obtained her group fitness instructor certification in August of 2018. She is excited to work with the Young At Heart community and serve those who are in pursuit of their own personal health and fitness goals.

Emily

Emily  first found vinyasa yoga in 2008, and it was love at first Savasana! She soon realized that it was her dream to become a yoga teacher and in 2012 made that dream a reality; receiving her 200 RYT through Frog Lotus Yoga International. Emily brings a peaceful strength and playful approach to her vinyasa classes, finding joy in establishing connections with her students. She is extremely grateful to be able to share what she loves with the community.

Amanda

Amanda received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Science from Fitchburg State University in January 2012. Prior to that, Amanda studied Athletic Training and Dance at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Amanda has been dancing for 19 years and has become inspired through her travels and experiences to explore the world of Pilates to help complement her dance training. Seeing how beneficial the system was for her, she continued on to get her instructor certification through Peak Pilates so that she may help others find how Pilates can improve one's overall health and well being. In the fall of 2012, Amanda received her Level I Certification from Peak Pilates and is continuing on in the program. Along with Pilates, Amanda teaches dance and choreographs locally at The Dance Center in Winchendon, MA. She also is a dancer, choreographer, and assistant for Jennie&Company, a local modern dance group.
